THE ARARAT & DISTRICT CYCLING CLUB Inc.

Reformed in 1968 the Ararat & District Cycling Club has been one of the states leaders in both the promotion of junior cycling and the introduction of separate women’s events at both club and open level.

Junior racing is seen by the Ararat club as the most vital part of cycling and the club has worked hard over many years to both promote junior racing and place these youngsters who are the future of clubs on the same level of importance as any other cycling competitor.

The Ararat Velodrome is a 250m concrete track recently re-surfaced and set in magnificent parkland with plenty of trees to provide shade, the club has constructed a grandstand and perimeter seating at the facility along with clubrooms and public toilets to make the David Blackie Velodrome the best outdoor complex in the state. Members have raised in excess of 90% of the money expended on the facility including the track construction and led by tireless worker, Dave Blackie, continue to maintain the complex at a high standard.

To riders who may not have seen the Ararat Velodrome or competed on it, may we extend a warm invitation to you to enter this years ‘Diamonds at the Dome’ Christmas Carnival and travel to Ararat for a great days racing and warm hospitality.
